CAPTION: “Usually there is only one arse on the main on that boat” it was over heard someone say. Overall results here

If Old Putney was around at the wekend he would have certainly approved of how his regatta was shaping up. Almost perfect weather conditions for sunburn as my forehead will testify. The regatta was run by the ancient Mudhook Yacht Club and with ancient you do always get lots of experience infact there must have been well over 500 yearsexperience on the committee boats which produced great courses and nice short start lines which made it all the more exciting at the starting blocks.

I had the pleasure of sailing on TISO THUNDERBIRD a Farr 40 of sorts which got 5 line honours in our class and finish 3rd overall, so because we were so fast around the course I don’t really know what was happening in all the classes as we were blistering quick and so farr out in front giving that King 40 and Local something a real kicking where it hurts. We had three lovely birds on our boat, who worked very well in various positions (some I was not aware of) a mention should go to Charlotte Dobson an Olympic Laser campaigner who narrowly missed out on a place for Beijing helped keep Jon Fitz going the right way (and was only overruled once)

Anyway we never won it but I know a man that did. So here’s Fiona Holland’s race report read on. (more…)
