Scottish Sydney-Hobart Update

December 28, 2008

Just Do It 3″ the Scottish Entry in the Sydney Hobart race this year is currrently lying in 4oth place out of 100 boats. After a cruelling few days covering the fleet I expect them to pounce at anytime and just as a reminder the above video shows it not over while they are still standing. Handicap result maybe?

Down at Skid Mark Central it was all change in the underpants department for the crew of  the Hydroptere, in a bid to break the 50 kts barrier for proper boats this thing took off in a fashion best suited to pub sailing stories after a few hours in the booze boutique after sailing. Imagine the chat “yes we where doing 47.8kts on the reach when all of a sudden Fred Perry farted and Piere turned round to see who it was but lost control of the wheel in the process and we just took off into space, when we landed no-one knew or could tell who let one rip as everyones pants where filled. Great effort and a life time of pub chat. check it out

Christmas Number 1″There’s No One As Irish As Barack Obama”

December 21, 2008

This has go to be the Christmas Number One

You all know Marine Blast doesn’t give a shit about pushing politics on this site, however we did predict that Obama Barack or is it Barack Obama? would be the next president of the USA so that makes us the foremost trend indicator sailing site in the world. Anyway we thought this was well worth a push and that it was just amazing that Barack is indeed as Irish as they come. So buy him a Pint of Guiness next time you see him down the local pub. See you at St Patricks day big man.

Rolex Sydney – Hobart Yacht Race, Potential Race Winners in Question NOW!

December 21, 2008

just-do-it

With the confirmed entry of “JUST DO IT” a big Blue boat,  with its roots in Scotland under the ownership of Ian & Annie Darby now entered  in the boxing day race from Sydney – Hobart.   What is significant is the line up of Scottish Clyde based sailors on board for the race headed by Billionaire Jamie McGarry from Yacht Grand Cru of Rhu along with Frank Doran, Paul, Richard and Rosine Harris from “Tanit” fame will be adding another big boat series to their Fastnet  stories See video  Alan Mc Leod (boat tart) Gordon Aitken, Chris Frize, Phil the token Aussie and Colin Moore another boat tart.

Asked why they  decided on this choice of boat with so many other’s available, the answer was simple, they would be away for a few weeks and would all be required to be carrying their wallets and surplus cash for the celebrations after they have won the Race overall. A buoyant jubilant “ Jamie” said they were looking forward to kicking some Australian / NZ arse  on the water when they  got there. One of the biggest worries he had was just how to transport the trophy back to Scotland after the race, but has commissioned an extension onto his fire place to allow the Trophy to be placed on it on his return.

Marine Blast and the rest of Scotland are looking forward to the home coming and are all behind this effort. Good Luck from SCOTLAND.
