EXPERIENCED kite surfer Jake Scrace makes the most of the extreme wind yesterday with a death-defying 100ft jump over a pier. Dont Touch Me…………….TP52 Racing (very touchy)

October 14, 2009

Real nice quality video from these proper film makers AdonnanteTv stunning shots of these big dinghies floating about the place. How ever there did seem to be rather alot of male touching going on for me, I suppose thats what happens in these warmer places and some of them did look a little bit suspect. Every class to their own.

Part Two (Luxury) West Highland Week 09

September 15, 2009

West Highland Week Up-date Part Two.

Firstly, sorry for the time it has taken to get this together, busy re- floating our boat and insurance stuff.

Anyway, back to WHYW 09 which was, shall we say one of the best I have ever had to endure?  It would be fair to say that they do just seem to be getting better and better every year. It was great chat driving up the road, just knowing that you were going to have a great week. On arrival to Craobh, the starting place for the majority of the fleet,  we looked for our support boat amongst the very large fleet.  It soon became clear that our leaders had thought of everything, and whilst not very well sign posted, it was a delight to see the tallest mast in the marina which made identification of our ‘home’ for the next week much easier. Who’s Going Down on “Billie Piper”

It was such a very sad and painful day for Mr Marine Blast and his crew who were enjoying the Piper one design class Championships off Royal Gourock sailing Club on the Clyde. Whilst on the last down wind leg of a windward lee-ward course while lying 5th in I suppose fairly windy conditions we had a massive wipe-out (Chinese Gybe)  in a gust of about 100 kts knocked the boat flat and the kite filled with water pinned it down and filled till it sank to the bottom of the Clyde in about 70 ft of water, the whole thing happen in about 5-8 seconds.

Just like to say a very BIG THANKS to the boats that came to our rescue so promptly in particular Fergie Campbell and Robert Paterson sailing “Sanderling” who managed to pluck all three of us out the water in one go in some very tricky conditions indeed. A great show of seamanship and sportsmanship.  In short we ended up with a DNF (Did Not Float)  What a Bummer…………..we will be back ……..shortly

West Highland Yachting Week now there’s a proper Regatta. But just where do I start with a week that saw a massive list of entries well spread across the Classes. This regatta is well sorted in that it ticks all or most boxes that Sailing folks are looking for. (more…)

West Highland Week (Sponsored by a Scottish Brewery)

August 1, 2009

Marine Blast will be attending The Tennents West Highland Yachting Week. Tennents as you may not be aware is a very refreshing Drink after a days Racing on the water. Some people are sometimes even known to have more than one or two, such is it’s thirst reversal properties.

Join us throughtout the week for OFF THE WATER UPDATES I’m sorry for no ON THE WATER UPDATES but we will simply just be too Farr ahead to see what’s going on, and the other yachts just look so small. Anyway checkout the offical site www.whyw.co.uk
